 Chinese scientists have made significant progress in quantum computer research based on photons and superconducting systems

 

Recently, Prof. Pan Jianwei from University of Science and Technology of China, his colleagues Lu Zhaoyang and Zhu Xiaobo and Professor Wang Haohua from Zhejiang University have made a series of important progress on photons and superconducting quantum computer. In optic field, the research team constructed a programmable quantum computing prototype for Boson sampling by using a high-Q quantum dot single photon source, which was based on the first ten-photon quantum entanglement realized last year. The prototype computer first showed powerful computing ability which exceeded the early classic computers (ENIAC, TRADIC). In superconducting field, they realized ten quantum bits entanglement which set a new record kept by Google, NASA and UCSB, who reported the operation of nine superconducting quantum bits. The new progresses were published or received by Nature Photonics and Physical Review Letters.
